Welcome to Classes
Welcome to Classes! In January 2021, Pace will fully update its learning management system to ensure our academic technology is of the highest standards. Read more for important important about this transition.
Pace is excited to announce an important transition. In January 2021, the University will be adopting Classes, a new learning management system.
The learning management system, or LMS, is the main academic technology used to support teaching and learning. Pace has used Blackboard as its LMS for over 20 years. However, based on developments in LMS technology over the past few years, we decided to conduct a review to ensure our LMS was not only meeting our current needs but would also help to move us forward in the development of blended and online courses. After an extensive review of the options, a faculty led committee, established through the faculty councils including membership from Pleasantville, New York City, and the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, unanimously selected Brightspace by Desire to Learn as our new LMS.
The choice was made based on the modern interface, accessibility, and mobile friendliness. We have rebranded the D2L LMS to Classes.
This fall, we have about 50 faculty teaching 120 courses in Classes. These early adopters were trained over the summer and with the help of this group, we will prepare for the larger move of the rest of the Pace Community to Classes as of January 1, 2021, at which time all courses will be transitioned to Classes.
We will have a lot of support in place as we make this transition, including webinars and training guides, helpdesk support, and the Student Online Learning Orientation (SOLO). We will communicate further updates regarding training as January 2021 approaches.
Save the date! Seidenberg, in conjunction with Cyber Intelligence 4U, will be hosting a virtual cybersecurity conference on Thursday, October 29.
