Pace Library Updates: Spring 2020
Although we may not be able to take full advantage of Pace's physical libraries during our remote learning period, the Mortola and Birnbaum Libraries have enhanced their digital resources and have created a number of initiatives to continue to best support Pace faculty and staff.
The phyiscal library facilities may be closed, but Mortola and Birnbaum Library staff are still available to help you and your students! Be sure to take advantage of the following resources:
Contacting the Library:
Use the Ask A Librarian page to contact the library; staff are monitoring chat, email, text messages, and the phones seven days a week, including evenings and weekends. Updated hours are available on the Library homepage. Since the switch to Remote Learning took place on March 12, Library staff have answered over 400 questions through the “Ask a Librarian” services.
To meet the growing demand for electronic resources, the Library recently acquired over 5,700 titles from the Sage Knowledge e-book collection. Sage Knowledge gives access to SAGE Publishing eBook and eReference content in the social sciences. This is an Evidence Based Acquisitions (EBA) commitment; at the end of one year we will purchase select content from the collection based on demonstrated use or perceived continued need. We have also added access to over 3,000 additional e-book titles from the EBSCO e-book collections.
The Library has created a new website to support faculty teaching online. The website provides information, videos, and directions on how to link to and incorporate Library resources and content in your Blackboard course shells and in your online teaching. On the site you can learn how to link directly to a particular e-book title.
Be sure to visit the Pace Library website for the most up-to-date information. Additionally, you can view book, streaming, and podcast recomendations from Library staff in this month's edition of Pace Media Shelf!
Pace professors are weighing in on the 2020 election, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and much more in this month's edition of Fit to Print.
