This October, Pace University is teaming with Univision and TECHO, a youth led non-profit organization present in Latin America and the Caribbean, to bring the issue of global poverty to the forefront.
NYC Focus Event | Tuesday, October 6 | Bianco Room, One Pace Plaza
Head to Pace Plaza for performances by Pace Performing Arts students; a panel on New York City as a global hub for impact and awareness featuring Dyson Assistant Professor Andrea Voyer, PhD; keynote speech by President of the Borough of the Bronx Ruben Diaz Jr.; and a panel discussion moderated by College of Health Professions Dean Harriet R. Feldman, RN, FAAN, PhD, on poverty and empathy research conducted by College of Health Professions’s Angela Northrup, PhD, and Elizabeth Berro. Finish the day with President Stephen J. Friedman as he hosts InsideTrack with Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.

The Schimmel stage heats up with special guest speakers and panels on inequality and poverty, innovative approaches to overcoming poverty, voices from slums, technology and communications, the influence of art on poverty and cities, and a look at the challenges and responsibilities faced by those working to eradicate poverty. Speakers and panelists include: Winnie Byanyima, executive director of Oxfam International; Maria Elena Salinas, Peabody Award-winning anchor for Univision; Christopher Fabian, co-director of the Innovation Unit at UNICEF; Jorge Daniel Veneciano, executive director of El Museo del Barrio; and so many others.
