The world around us is changing every day. Attend these events to be informed about what’s going on in Westchester.
Environmental Research in the Pocantico Watershed: Past and Future
Friday, March 11 | 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. | Gottesman Room
Join Pace professors Nicholas A. Robinson and M.M. Minnis, and graduate student Dwane Binns for a presentation of research regarding the Pocantico watershed—which will help attendees better understand the history of and pressing concerns surrounding the Pocantico watershed, particularly in relation to preserving water quality. The symposium will also include a panel on future research needs, and a luncheon featuring a keynote from Hudson Riverkeeper Paul Gallay. To register and RSVP for the symposium, click here.
Westchester County Airport Expansion: Taking Off or Grounded?
Friday, March 18 | 8:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. | Gottesman Room
Join Conversation Café—a consortium of eight Westchester County-based partners for a discussion regarding the proposed changes for Westchester County Airport, and the potential environmental impact of those changes.
Speakers for the program include Peter Scherrer, the Westchester County Airport manager who will outline the proposed changes; Carolyn Cunningham, an environmental lawyer and member of the board of directors of the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County; George Klein, vice chair of Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group and Airport Committee chairman for the Sierra Club; and Ted Anderson, who will discuss the history of the current terminal use agreement (TUA) and the environmental implications of altering the TUA.
Given the subject matter, this event should provide an enlightening discussion on a very real and current environmental issue. To register for this event, click here.
Also coming up—the 11th annual Environmental Consortium Student Summit is coming to Pace in April. Be sure to stay tuned to The Pulse for more info!
