50 Days Picks Up the Pace (PLV)

News Story

50 Days and 50 Nights heats up this week with cooking competitions, a fall formal, and sporting events of the season.

50 Days and 50 Nights may be flying by, but SDCA is on track for another fun week of events featuring a “human iPod,” a fancy formal, a cupcake challenge, and several philanthropic events to help you give back to the community.

Monday, October 17

Greek President Round Table

Get to know Greek leaders, ask and discuss questions, and get informed about all things Greek life at this roundtable event.

Sex Olympics

Let's talk about sex! Join Sigma Lambda Upsilon for an educational sex seminar.

Shades of Brown

Get ready for a night of delicious eats from different cultures. Taste foods from people from around the world and learn about their cultures during this event hosted by Black Student Union.

Tuesday, October 18

Volleyball vs. Molloy College

Cheer on the Setters for this roaring home game against the Molloy College Lions.

How Brown Can You Be?
9:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. | Kessel, Gottesman Room
Join Lambda Upsilon Lambda as they discuss inequalities in the criminal justice system, inform students of their rights, and teach the proper way to interact with authorities.

Common Hour Conversation

Ready to speak your mind? Join the Center for Community Action and Research in PLV to discuss hot topics with your peers, spark questions, and create an engaging dialogue.

Commuter Life Programming

Commuters, come out for the Commuter Life Programming event “You Tell That Midterm Who’s Boss” to help tackle those tests with ease.

Field Hockey vs. LIU Post

StrengthsQuest

First-year students, you've all had an intro to StrengthsQuest. Get ready to leverage your talents and learn more about your path to success at this session.

Happy Hour: John Rush
8:00 p.m. | Boudreau Lounge
Known as the “Human iPod,” musician John Rush has more than 75 hours of music in his head and takes requests from the audience throughout the show singing everything from decades-old classics to current top-of-the-charts hits. Get ready for a one-of-a-kind performance!

Friday, October 21

Successful Learning Center Fall Formal
6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. | Kessel Multipurpose Room
Get ready to dress up and dance the night away at the Successful Learning Center (SLC) Fall Formal. Students can also volunteer to help with setup, teardown, decorating, distributing food, setting table cloths, and mingling with SLC participants.

Volleyball vs. Stonehill College

The Setters will attempt to send the Stonehill Skyhawks flying during this exciting home game.

Juvenile Diabetes Dinner

Enjoy a delicious dinner while learning about how you can get involved in philanthropy for juvenile diabetes, which effects more than 1.25 million American children in the type 1 form.

Saturday, October 22

Pace Makes a Difference Day
9:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. | Kessel, Gottesman
SDCA is joining forces with local community groups and organizations to host Pace Makes a Difference Day. Students will have the chance to perform a range of community outreach activities—from beautification projects, to mentoring younger students, to running book drives—with the aim of fostering a spirit of community activism and togetherness throughout the greater Westchester area. There will also be activities and events held on Pace's Westchester Campus. Transportation and lunch will be provided. Register here.

Watch as the Setters attempt to send the Falcons flying home from the Goldstein Fitness Center.

Deepher Dude
7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. | Kessel, Gottesman
Watch the brothers of Delta Phi Epsilon compete for the crown in a male beauty pageant complete with dinner, performances, and a brief informational video on their philanthropy, cystic fibrosis.

Six Flags Fright Fest Trip

Get ready for this spook-tacular amusement park trip complete with rides, fun, and fright! Tickets are now sold out for this event.

A reverse-intentioned title with a twist from the brothers of Pi Lambda Phi.

Tuesday, October 25

Minority Report
9:10 p.m.–11:00 p.m. | Lienhard Lecture Hall
The Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) will discuss the obstacles that minorities face at school, work, and everyday life to help spread diversity awareness.  

Wednesday, October 26

Caught Green Handed
11:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. | Kessel Tabling
Plastic can stick with us longer than you think. The environmental damage that plastic causes affects the community, but we have what it takes to use less and make a positive difference. Learn more at this informational table in Kessel.

Battle of the Chefs
11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. | Fern Dining Patio (weather permitting)
Chefs will put their skills on the chopping block in an attempt to reign supreme at the Battle of the Chefs hosted by Chartwells. A special guest star chef is set to make an appearance.

Cupcake Combat

Have you always wanted to compete on Cupcake Wars? Put your skills to the test in this cupcake competition! The winner will receive a gift card…sweet deal!
