2015 Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon (PLV)
24 hours in a day; 12 hours to save a life. The annual Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon is happening on November 21 and we need everyone's support to help make miracles happen.
We dance for those who can’t.
Last year, the Pace 4 Kids Dance Marathon raised $30,016.73 for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, which serves more than 20,000 children each year.
Back for its third year, P4K has upped its goal to $35,000 and they need your fancy footwork and fundraising skills to make it happen.
From 3:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. on November 21–22 in the Kessel Student Center on the Westchester Campus, dancers will participate in a group morale dance each hour (watch video of last year’s dance), along with fan-favorites, like the cha-cha, electric slide, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll get to watch you whip, watch you nae nae. Activities throughout the event include Pin the Cape on the Superhero, karaoke, photo booth, and performances by the Pace Cheerleading Squad, Pace Dance Team, 808s, NALFO, Orientation Leaders, and a competitive dance school from New Jersey. Plus, a silent auction, where raffle tickets can be purchased for various items such as gift certificates, and live auctions, run by current and past patients at the hospital, which will include t-shirts with their artwork, and much more.
But ultimately, this is for the kids. So why do we P4K? For some students, P4K is a thank you to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and others like it that have made a difference in their lives.
“The hospital itself has been a huge help in saving some of my family members' lives and I will do what I can to give back,” says mathematics major Abby LaMonica ’16, P4K's morale dance coordinator.
For others like Patti Mueller, team relations director and nursing student, P4K combines both her passion and her profession. “I have worked with children of various ages while volunteering and working throughout my life. It is because of my volunteering that I found my passion in nursing and through my job experience that I realized that I want to specifically go into pediatrics in the future," she says. "To me, nothing in the world can make my day more than seeing a child smile or being able to make them laugh. This is why it is my mission to help raise as much money as possible for such a great hospital like Maria Fareri Children's Hospital that provides the best of care to children in need of the utmost amount of medical attention. The amazing impact that an event like this has on children and their families is why I P4K. For the kids!”
When setting your goals, think about this: 100% of your donations stay local in the Hudson Valley and help make a difference in the lives of children within the community at Maria Fareri, our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. Raising just $50 will provide a birthday party for a child who has to spend his/her special day in the hospital. Need more convincing? Check out this compilation video of P4K 2014.
